AUTHOR - PHOTOGRAPHER

Rochelle Frank, born in Long Beach CA, was feature editor of her college newspaper. She married, had two sons, and continued to write while teaching in elementary schools. Creating original teaching materials for her own classes, and gathering ideas for future children's books. Upon retirement she moved to the western Sierra foothills and wrote feature articles for local publications. Rochelle now often volunteers to lead tourists astray by giving tours at at the local gold rush history museum in Mariposa, California.

Linda Gast, is also a former classroom teacher, who has a spouse and two children. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, but a long time Californian, she now lives in the Sierras. As the official volunteer photographer for her county SPCA, she also maintains their web page. and creates web pages for local businesses. Linda gave up a successful quilt-pattern business, when she discovered that photography was a stronger calling. Her photos of people, landscapes, animals and birds have won prizes and have been seen in several publications and on web sites. She is never happier than when she is in her kayak, stalking waterfowl and other birds with her large caliber camera lens .

The two met while doing features for local publications. Linda's photographic encounter with a tiny Saw-Whet Owl, led her to collaborate with Rochelle on their first children's book, "So What, Saw-Whet?".
